Hey, it's been a bit. I got a couple more job rejections today. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it here, but BCpedia.org is alive and well. Stop on over and see if you can help us out with a little contribution. That's all I've got for right now.

Progress

I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to get a wiki started using the free options online. I've decided that I'm gonna go legit and buy a domain and host it somewhere. That's really all I have to say for now.

Civic Pride

I've been reading the paper lately. The past few days have had articles about the lack of a structured historical district or something. Basically, I've been reading about old houses and buildings downtown and past and current renovations. Also, they've mentioned a lot about structures that have been torn down (like the pic from yesterday's post. Tragedy IMHO) for whatever reason. Apparently this hotel was unnecessary but just a few years later we got this one just a few years later. I prefer the first one, personally.

Anyway, the point of this madness is that I spent 2 hours looking through these pictures and it got me all excited about my hometown (lame right?) So I've decided that BC should have a wiki documenting it's grand past and excellent current and it's tiring me out today. So much so that this blog has lost steam. Check out this video from today's Enquirer (the Battle Creek Enquirer, that is.)

Floors

Is it weird that I'm fascinated that rooms can be stacked onto each other?
(Do you know who lived in this house? I do.)

My motivation level for finding a job is probably at an all time low right now. It's was frustrating for six months to have no interest from any perspective employers. Then a month or so ago there was a bunch. The USPS wanted my urine. Meijer wanted to my resume. Well, I gave my pee to the government almost 2 months ago and I haven't heard anything since.

The Meijer situation was really disappointing. Dude told me I had a job only to change his mind or have his mind changed by the store Director.

The obvious problem is that we need money. Desperately. I was denied unemployment. Carrie is going to school full time and working as much as the daycare will let her given her work schedule. Being aggressive and showing very intense interest (and being incredibly qualified) didn't work. What other options are there?

break

I took a little break from the prose project last week and I'm getting back in now. Thanks to those who have read and given feedback on the progress so far (the offer to email to YOU is still out there.

I moved from the bed today. I spend most of my time sitting up against the castle typing or crusin' the internet or whatever. I decided to check out the workspace I made for Carrie and it's great to be sitting a piece of furniture designed for sitting! I took some pics complete with my deck of cards and giant patriot drinking glass--filled with the exciting water.

Check out some hot pics of myspace(TM). http://twitpic.com/2yxmx

I've been contemplating my need to feel self important and force myself to blog daily. I don't think I'm going to force myself to do it so much, but here is a video I found interesting.

These are some dance sequences recycled in some old disney films.

I'm delighted to see that nine seasons of South Park are available 'instantly' on Netflix. I'm hoping that more Comedy Central programing will follow. The ability to see the Daily Show on the TV would be awesome. There really needs to be a free (Microsoft approved) ad supported streaming service on the xbox. It's really dumb that there isn't.

Most of the tv and movies Carrie and I watch are streamed from Netflix. I think it would be in Hulu's interest to expand it's audience and increase it's ad revenue. I mean come on, you can watch Youtube on the effiing Wii.

Misleading

I don't know who that lying redhead thinks she's foolin'. Not me.

Wendy's isfast food. Sure, they probably aren't as quick as McDonalds or Burger King and they claim to never freeze the beef, but I stand in line to order and no one's bringing it to me. I get ketchup from a giant metal vat (and I pump it myself), and I throw away my own garbage when I'm done.

I was annoyed the first time I heard the slogan, but it's gone on way too long. What do you think? Is it time to change the slogan?

The First 4

here are the first four paragraphs of my story so far.

begin

The wind was blowing hard from the west and an enormous pile of snow would follow soon, maybe. The hilly southwestern Michigan landscape had been bare for weeks. Prudence Johnston was hopeful for the change. She had spent most of the past 8 months staring out the front window she was currently staring out and was hoping to finally see something new or at least see the normal landscape covered in a billowy white blanket.

Her husband entered through the front door, but she was not inclined to move. Speaking about the funeral he had attended was not something that interested her now. It would only further upset her.

She had been waiting anxiously for the year’s first snow, but so far God had been holding out. She could not remember a time in 35 years when there had been no snow this late into December. Was God torturing her? She couldn’t decide.

Looking, still, out this front window, past the pile of charred wood she noticed something new. A tiny dot was slowly advancing down the road.

Record Deal!

Holy crap...I'm still in shock a little bit...I don't know where to start.

I woke up this morning when my phone rang. I was having a nice dream about Dairy Queen and pretty annoyed. It was a number I didn't recognize, so I sucked it up hoping it was a job calling for an interview or something. Little did I know!

It was this guy (Frank something) from this instrumental music label. He said they heard of my stuff on the internet and think that I'll be a nice asset as an artist and as a musician in the studio! Holy geez!

I didn't even know what to say. They based out of Nashville, but they said I can record out of my house while Carrie's in school. That's amazing. And just two days after I got a job and then maybe didn't get a job... They're hooking me up an small expense account and  new computer so I can make that situation a little better.

Oh man, I'm super stoked.
